Miss USA 1952, the first annual Miss USA pageant, was held on 27 June 1952 at Long Beach Municipal Auditorium, Long Beach, California. 39 states competed for the inaugural Miss USA. The winner was Jackie Loughery, New York.

Jacqueline 'Jackie' Loughery (born 1930), is a woman originally from New York, known for being the first Miss New York USA and winner of the first Miss USA beauty pageant, in Long Beach, California. In 1952, she won the title only after a second ballot broke a first-place tie. The redheaded Loughery went on to represent the USA at the very first Miss Universe pageant, where she placed ninth.

She was married to singer Guy Mitchell in October 1953, and actor Jack Webb from Dragnet in July 1958. She divorced Webb in March 1964 and married her current husband, making her name Jackie Loughery Switzer (or Schwitzer). They now live in Encino, California.

miss teen usa 2009



Miss Teen USA 2009, the 27th Miss Teen USA pageant, was held at the Imperial Ballroom, Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on July 31, 2009. For the first time since 1986 the Miss Teen USA pageant was held earlier than the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Teen USA 2008, Stevi Perry of Arkansas, crowned Stormi Henley of Tennessee as her successor.

This year for the first time, the event was broadcast live over the Internet (on www.missteenusa.com). Ed Fields and Stevi Perry hosted the presentation show, where Seth Goldman and Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart hosted the final show.

Miss Teen USA 2008, the 26th Miss Teen USA pageant, was held on August 16, 2008 from Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, the Bahamas. This was the first Miss Teen USA pageant that was not televised, after Miss Universe Organization broadcast partner NBC failed to renew its contract, and it was also the first Miss Teen USA pageant held outside the United States. The pageant was hosted by Seth Goldman and Miss Teen USA 2004, Shelley Hennig.

At the conclusion of the pageant, outgoing titleholder Hilary Cruz crowned her successor Stevi Perry of Arkansas as the new Miss Teen USA.

Miss Teen USA 2007, the 25th Miss Teen USA pageant, was held on August 24, 2007 in Pasadena, California. At the conclusion of the final night of competition Hilary Cruz of Colorado was crowned Miss Teen USA 2007 by outgoing titleholder Katie Blair of Montana.

This was the first time the pageant was held in Pasadena, although it was the sixth time the pageant was held in California. It was broadcast from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The event was hosted by Mario Lopez, who also hosted Miss Teen USA 1998 and Miss Teen USA 2003. In 2007 he also hosted the Miss America and Miss Universe pageants. The pageant was broadcast on NBC at 8:00 p.m. EST, rather than at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Miss Teen USA 2006, the 24th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Palm Springs Convention Center, Palm Springs, California on August 15, 2006. The pageant was won by Katie Blair of Montana.

For the third time, the pageant was hosted by Palm Springs. It had previously been held there in 2003 and 2004. On August 10, the 51 contestants competed in a preliminary presentation show where they were judged in swimsuits and evening gowns. Scores from this judging will determine the top 15 on the live telecast on August 15, 2006.

At the conclusion of the final competition, Katie Blair of Montana was crowned by outgoing titleholder Allie LaForce of Ohio. This was the first year that Montana made the initial cut in the competition, and until this pageant Montana was the only state which had not placed. This is the first major pageant title won by a delegate from Montana.

All the delegates were first to required to win their state pageant, which in some states also meant holding a local title.

Prior to the live telecast, the 51 contestants competed in a preliminary presentation show where they were judged in swimsuits and evening gowns. Scores from this judging determined the top 15 for the final competition.

Miss Teen USA 2003, the 21st Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Palm Springs on 12 August 2003. At the conclusion of the final competition, Miss Oregon Teen USA Tami Farrell was crowned by outgoing queen Vanessa Semrow of Wisconsin.

Prior to the live telecast, the 51 contestants competed in a preliminary presentation show where they were judged in swimsuits and evening gowns. Scores from this judging determined the top 15 for the final competition.

This was the first year that the pageant was held in Palm Springs, which would later host Miss Teen USA 2004 and Miss Teen USA 2006. The pageant location was announced on 17 July 2003. On 23 July 2003 it was announced that Jessica Simpson and Justin Guarini would appear as musical guests during the pageant. The event was hosted by Mario Lopez and Brooke Burns.

Farrell was the third titleholder from Oregon, the only state to win more than one Miss Teen USA.

Miss Teen USA 2002, the 20th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from South Padre Island, Texas on 28 August 2002. At the conclusion of the final competition, Miss Wisconsin Teen USA Vanessa Marie Semrow was crowned by outgoing queen Marissa Whitley of Missouri.

This was the second consecutive year that the pageant was held on South Padre Island, although it had also been held there in 1997.

Semrow was only the second teenager from Wisconsin to place in the pageant, and the first to win the title. The state's previous placement was in 1984.

In the years after the pageant, two delegates who competed at Miss Teen USA 2002 went on to win the Miss USA title. The class of 2002 is the first to produce two Miss USA winners. The first was Tara Conner of Kentucky, who placed second runner-up at Miss Teen USA 2002 and won the Miss USA 2006 pageant; she was followed by Rachel Smith of Tennessee (semi-finalist and Miss Photogenic at Miss Teen USA) who won Miss USA 2007. Both placed fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant. A third contestant, fourth runner-up Kimberly Harlan of Georgia, competed at Miss World 2003 but did not place.

The pageant was hosted by newcomer Brian McFayden with color commentary by Ali Landry and Julie Moran for the third year. Landry held the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 1990, Miss Louisiana USA 1996 and Miss USA 1996 titles, making the semi-finals at Miss Teen USA 1990 pageant before winning Miss USA 1996.

During the pageant there were performances by Rachel Lampa, 98 Degrees and Westlife.

The pageant was hosted by newcomer Carson Daly with color commentary by Ali Landry and Julie Moran for the second year. Landry held the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 1990, Miss Louisiana USA 1996 and Miss USA 1996 titles, making the semi-finals at Miss Teen USA 1990 pageant before winning Miss USA 1996.

During the pageant there were performances by Britney Spears and N'Sync. This was the second year that N'Sync provided entertainment.

The pageant was hosted by J. Eddie Peck, with color commentary by Ivanka Trump, daughter of new pageant owner Donald Trump. This was the first year since 1988 that there was no special entertainment.

Miss Teen USA 1996, the 14th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Las Cruces, New Mexico on 21 August, 1996. At the conclusion of the final competition, Christie Lee Woods of Texas was crowned by outgoing queen Keylee Sue Sanders of Kansas.

The pageant was hosted by Bob Goen for the third and final year, with color commentary by Sheri Belafonte and entertainment from The Monkees. This was the only year that the pageant was held in Las Cruces, although Albuquerque had previously played host to the 1987 Miss USA pageant.

The pageant was hosted by Bob Goen for the second year, with color commentary by Maty Monfort and entertainment by All-4-One. This was the only year that the pageant was held in Wichita, which also held the Miss USA pageant from 1990-1994, and it was the first time that a delegate won the Miss Teen USA title in her home state.

Miss Teen USA 1994, the 12th Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 16 August 1994. At the conclusion of the final competition, Shauna Gambill of California was crowned by outgoing queen Charlotte Lopez of Vermont.

The pageant was hosted by Bob Goen for the first of three years, with color commentary by Daisy Fuentes and Jamie Solinger, Miss Teen USA 1992. Music was provided by the Gulf Coast Teen Orchestra.

This was the fifth and final year that the pageant was held in Biloxi.

Miss Teen USA 1993, the eleventh Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 10 August 1993.

At the conclusion of the final competition, Charlotte Lopez of Vermont was crowned by outgoing titleholder Jamie Solinger of Iowa .

The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark for the third and final year, with color commentary by Arthel Neville and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu for the final time. Music was provided by the Gulf Coast Teen Orchestra.

This was the fourth of five years that the pageant was held in Biloxi. Contestants arrived on 26 June and were involved in two weeks of events and preliminary competition prior to the final broadcast, such as pre-taping scenes along the Mississippi coast, and being involved in an autograph signing party.

Miss Teen USA 1991, the ninth Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi on 19 August 1991.

At the conclusion of the final competition, Janel Bishop of New Hampshire was crowned by outgoing titleholder Bridgette Wilson of Oregon. Bishop is the first African American winner ever and the first titleholder from New Hampshire.

The pageant was hosted by Dick Clark for the first of three years, with color commentary by Leeza Gibbons and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu for the second time. Music was provided by the Gulf Coast Teen Orchestra.

This was the second of five years that the pageant was held in Biloxi. After the city hosted Miss Teen USA 1990, it entered negotiations with the Miss Universe company in October 1990 to host the pageant for a further four years, and an announcement to that effect was made in early November.

Miss Teen USA 1990, the eighth Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from Biloxi, Mississippi on July 16, 1990.

At the conclusion of the final competition, Bridgette Wilson of Oregon was crowned by outgoing titleholder Brandi Sherwood of Idaho.

1990 marked the year that Oregon won the pageant for the second of three times in the history of the pageant. No other state has won more than one Miss Teen USA title, making Oregon the only one with three crowns: Mindy Duncan in 1988, Bridgette Wilson in 1990 and Tami Farrell in 2003.

This was the first year the pageant was held at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, where it would be held for the following four years.

Sandy Duncan hosted the event for the only time, with color commentary by Leeza Gibbons and Miss Teen USA 1985 Kelly Hu. Music was provided by the Gulf Coast Teen Orchestra. Duncan was the first female host of an American beauty pageant.

Miss Teen USA 1989, the seventh Miss Teen USA pageant, was televised live from San Bernardino, California on July 25, 1989.

At the conclusion of the final competition, Brandi Sherwood of Idaho was crowned by outgoing titleholder Mindy Duncan of Oregon. Brandi is the only Miss Teen USA from Idaho. She's also the only teen from her state to ever place.

This was the second and final year the pageant was held in San Bernardino. It was hosted by Wil Shriner, with color commentary from Marcia Strassman and Angela Visser, Miss Universe 1989. Entertinament was provided by Kid Creole and the Coconuts.

Lee became Miss Universe 1997 a couple of months later, so Brandi assumed the Miss USA title. She is the only Miss Teen USA winner to hold the Miss USA title. She later became a Barker's Beauty model on the daytime game show The Price Is Right.

This was the only year that the pageant was held in El Paso. It would not return to Texas until Miss Teen USA 1997, the first of three years it was held on South Padre Island. The 1987 event was hosted by Michael Young, with colour commentary from Tracy Scoggins.

This was the first year the pageant was held in Daytona Beach, although it had been staged in Miami the previous year. The pageant was hosted by Michael Young, the host from 1983-1984 who returned from hosting after a break in 1985. Colour commentary was provided by Morgan Brittany, and there was entertainment from Kool and The Gang.

This was the second time a Miss USA or Miss Teen USA pageant had been held in Tennessee, after the Miss USA 1983 pageant had been staged in Knoxville the year before. Neither pageant has returned to the state since. This was the only time that the Miss Teen USA pageant was held in April.

Karla Paula Ginteroy Henry is from Cebu and was born in 1986 at Limay, Bataan, Philippines. She fashion model and a degree holder in Tourism. She is Filipino-Canadian who lived in Canada until the age of 14 before returning to the Philippines.

She was crowned in Pampanga, Philippines making her the first to become Ms. Earth in the Philippines and in the Asian Region.
